Every prepper has the majority of their supplies with them, ready to go. At a moment's notice, they can access any of those supplies and resources for whatever situation they need. Of course, that's essentially the point of prepping.
However, things may not always go as planned, and if the circumstances line up, you may end up not being able to access or rely on your main amount of gear. There are plenty of reasons as to why this could happen, but the real point is to be aware of this.
Now obviously, the easiest way to solve this is to also have backup or emergency supplies. Things you put away or store for a while, but keep them in mind in case of a dire situation. Having those backup items around is a great way to ensure survival in any circumstances.
The thing is, there are so many ways you could setup your backup resources, it's nearly impossible to figure out which is the right way! You could simply put them in a different part of your shelter, have them in a ready-to-go kit, or do something else entirely.
Of course, the overall choice is yours, but taking some tips and advice from others is never a bad idea. In fact, many will say the best way to have emergency supplies is a wilderness survival cache, and those folks may be onto something.
